Craigleith Provincial Park

Fractured plates of shale that form this Georgian Bay shore tell an ancient story. The rock contains invertebrate fossils 455 million years old. Now, the flat rock is ideal for launching a sailboard, fishing or watching a spectacular sunset. At the base of Collingwood's Blue Mountain, it's a short trip to Wasaga Beach, the Bruce Trail and historic Huronia.

Wasaga Beach

The world’s longest freshwater beach! Wasaga Beach, located about 20 minutes outside of Collingwood offers daily and nightly entertainment, restaurants, bars, mini-golf, waterslides, rides and games. There’s something for everyone!

This 14-kilometre, soft sandy beach on Georgian Bay attracts thousands every summer. So do the park’s other features: hiking and cross-country ski trails through sand dunes or pine-oak forest; a historic site that tells Wasaga’s colourful naval history; jazz concerts and military re-enactments.

Rent your own personal watercraft on the beautiful waters of Georgian Bay or take a ride on the big banana commercial tube ride, being towed by our 340 hp offshore power boat.

Perhaps the best kept secret in Wasaga Beach is the endless recreation trails for hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.

The trails have easy access routes to commercial centre’s, yet only a few feet away you are once again lost in the beauty of the sand dune system and abundantly forested landscape. Bring your camera and your sports gear. Our trail system is unforgettable.

For those wanting a change from land-based activities, try casting your rod in the Nottawasaga River for some magnificent game fishing. There are also boat rentals available and great canoe routes to explore.

Getting out on the Bay on a high speed waverunner is truly one of the most exhilarating experiences of your life.

Take Hwy 26 East out of Collingwood. Turn left at Mosley St. Exit then follow the signs towards the beach.

 


Surronding Area

Bayview Beach

Bayview Beach is located in the beautiful town of Thornbury, about 15 minutes West of Collingwood. Take Hwy 26 West into Thornbury, then turn RIGHT at the Esso Station. Take another RIGHT at the end of the street and you are there.

Christie Beach

Christie Beach Meaford ThornburyOne of the best sand beaches on this part of the bay just outside of Thornbury, about 20 minutes West of Collingwood. Follow Hwy 26 West through Thornbury, towards Meaford. About 5 minutes out of town you will see Christie Beach Rd. Turn RIGHT and follow towards the beach.

Change rooms, washrooms, playground equipment and picnic shelter. Unsupervised (No Lifeguards), Pets allowed and parking is free.

Council Beach

This quiet spot is located off of Hwy 26 at Grey Rd 40, in between Collingwood and Thornbury.

Thornbury Beach & Pier

With a beach, harbour and pier, this is a great spot for fishing, swimming and more! Take Hwy 26 West towards Thornbury (about 15 minutes West of Collingwood). Turn RIGHT at the lights (Bruce St.) then follow to the beach.
